James Allenby

James Allenby

James Allenby (born 12 September 1982 in Western Australia) to English parents is an English/Australian cricket player. He is currently playing for Leicestershire.

James is a batting all-rounder and recently made his first class debut against a touring West Indies A side. He played a handful of second XI games at Leicestershire during 2005 after being discovered at Brandon Cricket Club in the North East where he scored a huge unbeaten 266 in just 45 overs during a run-fest of a season in 2005. He is considered a Twenty20 specialist having played 13 games so far in the competition. His ability with the bat, as well as his accurate wicket to wicket bowling and exceptional fielding have meant he has been a regular in the foxes 2006 twenty20 campaign, and he played an integral role in their victory in the final at Trent Bridge. In the final match of the 2006 season, Allenby became only the fifth batsman in Leicstershire's history to score a century on first class debut and underlined his growing importance to the foxes, hitting an unbeaten 68 in the second innings to win the match.

In a disappointing 2007 season Allenby has been one of Leicestershire's better players becoming a regular in all forms of the game.
