Victoria Taranova aka Victoria Terranova is a
soprano who was born inKharkiv (then in theUSSR , now inUkraine ) into a family of musicians.Her father Lev Taranov was the founder and conductor of a unique ensemble of accordion players (children and adults). The ensemble played classical, popular and Lev’s own melodies. Her mother Irina Osipenko is a piano teacher and helped her husband by training players of the ensemble. Possessing a nice voice she was the first person who introduced Victoria to the world of vocals.
Taranova is a graduate from the Academy of Arts with an
Doctor of Music . She began her operatic and philharmonic career in the former Soviet Union ("Le nozze di Figaro" [Susanna]Mozart , "Il matrinonio segreto" [Carolina]Cimarosa , program "Vita Nova"Vivaldi ).Mrs. Taranova participated at the Institute of Vocal Arts Metropolitan Opera – New Israeli Opera (New-York / Tel-Aviv) program, by studying and performing with some of the greatest masters such as: G. Di Stephano, F. Cossoto, A. Krauss, I. Cotrubas, E. Obraszova, J.Dorneman.
Victoria toured throughout Europe with numerous performances as an opera and a chamber singer ("La Boheme" [Musetta]
Puccini "La Traviata" [Violetta] "Rigoletto" [Gilda]Verdi , "Die Zauberflote" [Konigin] Mozart, "Lucia Di Lammermoor" [Lucia] Donizetti, “Cardillac” [Tochter] Hindemith, Russian-German LiederAbends and many others). For the past several years Taranova has settled in North America, and took part in a considerable number of concerts and opera staging ("Lucrezia Borgia" [Lucrezia] Donizetti, "Don Giovanni " [Dona Anna] Mozart, various concert series). Victoria Taranova also participated in radio and TV broadcasts in the former USSR,Israel ,Germany andCanada (“Bravo”, CFMT).
