The College of Engineering & Technology of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila is one of the twelve Undergraduate schools of the University. It was established on July 01, 1969. It offers courses in many fields of study, and is the largest college at the PLM by undergraduate enrollment.

History

The College of Engineering and Technology originally had two main divisions namely, the Division of Engineering and Technology, which covered the Departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Naval Engineering, and Industrial Engineering; and the Division of Technical Education and Vocational Education, which covered the Departments of Electronics, Wood Working, Metal Works, Automotive Works, Ceramics, Graphical Arts, Teacher Education in Arts and Trades. Obtaining a degree in this College, then, required the students to finish a six-year ladderized program which was later reduced to a five-year scheme during the term of PLM President Consuelo S. Blanco who had felt the imperative need of the Engineering graduates to compromise the country’s labor pool.

In the early 1990s, it had seven (7) departments namely, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Studies, Electrical and Electronics and Communications Engineering, Engineering Science, and Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering. But this number was eventually increased to eight (8) when Architecture was retrenched as a separate department. In 2001, the Department of Architecture was transformed into a college, and the departments were reduced to seven (7).

On October 12, 2005, Microsoft Philippines sponsored a technology day organized by Metro Manila’s top universities and colleges, including PLM. The College is part of Faculty and Student Ambassador Program (FSAP) under the "Partners in Learning" program of Microsoft Philippines.

In its many years of existence, the College of Engineering and Technology has received numerous excellent awards and citations from several organizations and institutions.
