Baron Lanerton

Baron Lanerton, of Lanerton in the County of Cumberland, was a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 8 January 1874 for the naval commander Admiral Edward Howard. He also represented Morpeth in the House of Commons. A member of the famous Howard family, he was the fourth son of George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle. Lord Lanerton was childless and the title became extinct on his death on 8 October 1880.
