Puttige

There are two places named as Puttige in Karnataka. One of them is in the Udupi district and the other happens to be in the Dakshina Kannada district.

Puttige (Puthige) is a small village in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district(formerly South Canara) of Karnataka state in India. The place is famous due to the Puttige matha (monastery) belonging to the group of ashta (eight) mathas founded by Dvaita saint Sri Madhvacharya of Udupi.

Puttige (Puthige) is also the name of another village in Udupi district near Hiryadka.
