Josh Chetwynd

Joshua Stephen Chetwynd is the baseball analyst for Five a UK TV channel where he works with Jonny Gould on MLB on Five.

Baseball career

After 10 years, Chetwynd retired from the Great Britain Baseball Team due to injury, completing his international career with an RBI single in his final at-bat in his last game against Ireland, part of a double-header at Finsbury Park on Saturday 29 July, 2006. Chetwynd also played professionally in the United States in the Frontier League and in Sweden's Elite Series and at the collegiate level for four years at NCAA Division I Northwestern University. His usual fielding position was catcher. In 2007, he played for and coached the London Mets in the British National League South. The team won British baseball's national title, earning a sweep over the Croydon Pirates in the best-of-three finals.

TV presenting

Chetwynd first appeared on MLB on Five as a pundit in 2001, replacing the previous regular Todd Macklin, and remained in the role until 2003, when he left to complete a post-graduate degree; at this point David Lengel took over the role. However, at the start of the 2006 season, Chetwynd returned to the role following Lengel's departure to work as a presenter on mlb.com. In October 2006, Chetwynd briefly took over as the host of Monday night coverage of NFL on Five when Colin Murray had to leave due to the show clashing with his radio show.

Journalism

As a journalist, Chetwynd has served as a staff writer for such publications as "USA Today" and U.S. News & World Report. Currently he writes a blog for NASN's website. He has also on occasion written for "The Times".
