- Les Inrockuptibles
"Les Inrockuptibles" is a French
art criticism magazine . Started as a monthly magazine in1986 , it became weekly in1995 . The name is a play on "Les Incorruptibles", the French title of the American television series "The Untouchables". Les Inrockuptibles is routinely nicknamed "Les Inrocks".In the beginning, rock music was the magazine's primary focus, though every issue included articles on other artistic domains. Currently, many other topics are tackled: cinema,
books , society, etc.The magazine tends to take a
left-wing andintellectual approach to art and society, lending itself to accusations ofelitism andsnob bishness.Despite all that, the magazine was instrumental in popularising indie rock music with bands such as
the Smiths andThe House of Love . It was unofficially coupled with the radio show byBernard Lenoir having a nearly identical namel'inrockuptible .They produced several tribute records, including the influential "
I'm Your Fan " to Leonard Cohen in 1991, "The Smiths is dead " in 1996 and "Monsieur Gainsbourg revisited" in 2006.There is an Argentine edition, with the name of " [http://www.losinrockuptibles.com/ Los Inrockuptibles] "
