EVTEK

EVTEK University of Applied Sciences (formerly EVTEK Institute of Technology) (abbr. EVTEK) is one of Finland's applied science polytechnics. Evtek University of Applied Sciences is a forward-looking, international educational institution with a reputation for excellence in Greater Helsinki. It offers degree programmes in technology, business and art & design leading to either Bachelor's or a Master's degree. EVTEK has established strong links with industry and business and supports working life and regional development through research and development work.

The current president of Evtek is Pertti Törmälä. The Vice-President at the Institute of Technology in Leppävaara, Espoo is Jaakko Sirkjärvi. At the School of Business Administration in Myyrmäki, Vantaa, the Vice-President is Sinimaaria Ranki. At the Institute of Art and Design in Tikkurila the Vice-President is Maisa Huuhka. The ECTS coordinator at Evtek is Arja Hannukainen.

Location

The EVTEK University of Applied Sciences has campuses that are located in the cities of Espoo and Vantaa, within the Helsinki metropolitan region and near major high-tech industries. There are 3 campuses in total. The Institute of Technology campus is in Leppävaara in eastern Espoo. The other two campuses are located in Vantaa. The School of Business Administration campus is located in western Vantaa in Myyrmäki. The Institute of Art and Design has its campus in Tikkurila in eastern Vantaa.

History

EVTEK was established as a technical institute in 1985 and it received accreditation to become a polytechnic in 1996. EVTEK offers 12 degree programs in technology studies. Most of the faculty and staff are recruited from Helsinki University of Technology or industry.

Degree Programmes

The extent of studies is measured in ECTS. Each ECTS credit equals to about 30 hours of student's work. The Bachelor of Engineering degree programme totals 240 ECTS credits and takes four years to complete. Classes take place either full-time day school, or part-time evening-school for adult students who are usually in full-time employment.

Institute of Technology

The Institute of Technology campus in Espoo offers [http://www.evtek.fi/en/studies/institute_of_technology/ degree] in four-year Bachelor of Applied Science studies.

In the Professional studies a student chooses one specialisation option, which relates to his/her specialisation option in the Bachelor’s degree.

Master of Engineering

This program is for graduated engineers, to level the Bachelor degree up to Masters degree. Program is 60 ECTS.

chool of Business Administration

EVTEK offers two full-time [http://www.evtek.fi/en/studies/school_of_business_administration/ Bachelor of Business Administration double degree programmes] in English in conjunction with partner institutions in the UK and the Netherlands. Both programmes are 4 years in length (210 ECTS credits), and award two recognised degrees.

Institute of Art and Design

EVTEK Institute of Art and Design offers study programmes under three primary headings. The [http://www.evtek.fi/en/studies/institute_of_art_and_design/ degree programmes] , Bachelor of Arts in all areas consist of 240 ECTS and take four years to complete. The degree is equivalent to the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in the UK, the French Licence, the German Diplom Fachhochschule and the Dutch HBO Diploma.

Internships play an integral part in the education programmes and each degree programme has an obligatory internship period of twenty credits or twenty weeks and is included in the regular study plan. The internship period is usually divided into two periods of ten weeks each.
