Jyotisar is a town on the
Kurukshetra -Pehowa road, 5 km west ofThanesar in theKurukshetra district ofHaryana . It is a one of the most revered holy sites of the holy city ofKurukshetra . A "Vat" (Banyan tree ) stands on a raisedplinth . Local traditions say that it was under this holy "Banyan" thatLord Krishna delivered the sermon of "Bhagavad Gita ", the doctrine of "Karma " and "Dharma " to his wavering friendArjuna . Krishna delivering the sermon toArjuna marks the site of the "Srimad Bhagwad Gita". In one secluded section of this center, an oldShiva temple can also be seen. Hundreds of years ago, a holy water tank was present here and it can still be seen in the rainy season. TheKurukshetra Development Board has renovated the site in recent times. A mango shaped lake has been constructed here with covered bathing ghats for ladies. Cement parapets and enclosures have been built for protection. A restaurant and accommodation wing for "Yatrees" have been built and the entire area has been landscaped with flowering bushes and eucalyptus trees.as per the saying of the people the meaning of this very village is the tank of knowledge in hindi gyan ka sagar,the village presently having the population of more than ten thousand and the majority consists of the scheduled castes and backward castes besides the general peopleExternal links
