He was the last (to date) left-handed throwing player to ever perform the role of back-up catcher in the MLB, catching in three separate games for the Pirates in 1989.On
April 28 ,1992 ,David Cone of theNew York Mets brought ano-hitter into the eighth inning. Distefano broke it up with an infield hit, unintentionally grounding it very slowly down toward third base.
