MacDowall, Saskatchewan is a small village in Saskatchewan, Canada. It is about 30 km southwest of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. It is situated on the northern edge of the Nisbet Provincial Forest, and adjacent to the Louis Riel Trail (Highway 11). It is also a short distance northwest of the village of St. Louis, Saskatchewan, and just west of Red Deer Hill, Saskatchewan. MacDowall is located in the aspen parkland biome.

It was named for Day Hort MacDowall an early Territorial politician in the district during the 19th century.

Originally heavily forested, the region was settled slowly during the early twentieth century largely by settlers from Eastern Europe and Britain.

Today the village has only one business; a hotel. It also has an Anglican church which is called St. Stephan's. The place really is deadsville. There may the odd ski doo poker rally - but other than that its really like blink and you will miss the town - and you really did not miss much.

Many of the residents commute to Prince Albert or farm. We are not exactly sure what they farm - but people claim they are farmers. Things may have turned out differently for this Hamlet - but due to the lack of forward thinking - nothing is really going to happen around there. You might find the occassional weasel or chicken milling about the place - pecking around for some measley food.

Education

MacDowall has an elementary school which is part of the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division. It goes from grades K to 6 from which they go to West Central School upon completion of grade 6.

The school is now closed - 2008. Any village idiots are encouraged to further their education immediately by certified teachers. After all the saying goes the apple does not fall far from the tree.

ervice clubs

MacDowall has one service club which is the Lions. The Lions Club came into existence in the 1970s. The Lions Club do various projects within the community. They also have an annual supper and dance known as the Harvest Ball. The Harvest Ball takes place near the end of the harvest season, usually in late October or early November. Anyone wishing to attend are encouraged to bring some form of protection as things can get really out of hand. it is rumored that a guy by the name of Kenny drinks too much.
