Since 2004 the weekend opt-out programmes for
Plymouth have been joined by a weekday breakfast show for the city - in common with a number of other BBC local stations which have also introduced sub-regional opt-outs.Philip Hunt's "Sounds of Brass", broadcast every Sunday at 7pm, comes from the Plymouth studios. After 7pm each weekday, local radio in the "Spotlight" TV news area joins up until 1am. At the weekends, most local BBC radio stations in the South West and West regions have the same programming from 6pm onwards.
