pcupdate = 3/3/2007Franz Carr (born
September 24 ,1966 inPreston ) was an English footballer. He was a pacy winger who never quite established himself as a regular in the top flight. After playing in England and Italy he finished his career in the USA, playing for Pittsburgh Riverhounds.During his spell at Nottingham Forest from '85 to '91 he was a hugely exciting and popular winger who, at his peak, was one of the fastest players off the mark. Mostly playing down the right wing, he was a regular target for Neil Webb and Nigel Cough to chip balls over the opposing left-back. Highly exciting but lacked a good cross/final ball. Fell out of favour at Forest when his father, who was his manager, fell out with Brian Clough.
Forest fans coined the chant "Ooh Ahh Franzy Carr, I said Ooh Ahh Franzy Carr" later to be adapted by Man-U fans for Eric Cantona.
