The Pharm

The Pharm is a drugstore chain based in Maumee, Ohio, with locations in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Compared to competing drugstores, Pharm stores have a large selection of grocery items. Recently, Pharm stores have adopted a mascot named Discovery Dan. He is clad in a tan safari jacket, has a thick handlebar mustache, and appears in the weekly flier stating that he is your guide for discovering the deals. Oddly, he never seems to speak as his communications always appear in thought bubble form. The parent corporation of The Pharm is Spartan Stores. However in May 2008, company operations will be taken over by Rite Aid.

Spartan closed five Pharm Stores in late September 2007. Information that Spartan planned to sell the remaining Pharm stores came out in January 2008. In April 2008, Spartan Stores announced that "certain assets" from 12 of the 14 remaining Pharm stores would be sold to Rite Aid. The sale will be finalized in late May 2008.

A fictional British drug company called "the Pharm" appears in the TV series Torchwood as an antagonist organization, in the episode "Reset".
