Gelinsoor is a town that is located near the border between the Muduand and Galgaduud regions of Somalia. The population of this town is largely made-up of the Saleman clan of Habar Gedir and Wagardhac of MarehanGelinsoor is the correct spelling of that city not galinsoor, The name originates from too Somali words [Gelin and Soor] .

The word "gelin" means either half of the day, for instance , Afternoon or before noon; where as, "Soor" means Hosting guests.

For that Gelinsoor means where the guests where hosted either time they come, whether before noon or afternoon.

It lies between Galkaio, the capital city of Mudug region and the district of Adado in the Galgaduud region. It was found by Wagardha clan wariors, and they settled there. They dug water wells, and built strong business. The Wagardha are of Marehan, but they were cowboys and camel drivers, and had not mingled with other Marehans. Their elders and businessmen were open to other clans of their interest. Historically they had business relationships with Majerten who are of the Darod. The Wagardha built strong business ties with port cities of Berbera, in the North of Somalia, and Eastern ports of Bosaso, and Maydh. The Northern Somalia was run by Sak and the Eastern was controlled by Majerten. The commodity that is popular in mudug/galguduud is livestock, such as cows, camels and goats. Wagardha's traded their livestock with food, clothing, tobacco products, and other basic supplies. They traded these products with other neighboring clans with livestock.

After the establishment of the first Somali nation in 1960's, the first Saad of Habargidir came to gelinsoor. They didn't own any wells in the city, they didn't own a single shelter/cottage/house in the city of Gelinsoor. They struggled to get their feet in the city, and its water wells. There was a clash between the Wagardha warriors, and their elders. This clash was about excluding the Saads which Wagardha warriors did not want to integrate with them. There were variety of differences, but they interbreeded, i mean you could find some older guys, that their mothers were of saads and VS. With help of some relatives, and the fear of the constitution of the new born nation [saad] got lucky to settle part of the city of Gelinsoor. Both clans managed to integrate and live in the city and build it. it's two party city, the eastern party is home for saads and the center and the remaining is owned by Wagardhas.

Once the civil war started, it became a war zonw, fought by Hawiye and Darod who both appeared to support Habargidir and Wagardha. Now Gelinsoor is under the control of Wagardha and Saad. It used to be under the Galgaduud region, but is now leaning towards Mudug, which offers the prospect to make it a district.
