St. Brides or St. Brides Wentloog ( _cy. Llansanffraid Gwynllŵg) is a small hamlet to the south west of the
city ofNewport in southWales .Location
It lies in the community (parish) of
Wentloog and electoral district (ward) of Marshfield. village andparish church [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/69919] of St. Bride's, Wentloog is dedicated toSt. Bridget and is an ancient building of stone in theDecorated andPerpendicular styles, and consists ofchancel ,nave , south porch and an unusually fine Perpendicular embattled western tower [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/611653] containing 6 bells, four of which are dated1734 and bear inscriptions.The West Usk Lighthouse [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/559151] is built on the shore of the
Bristol Channel south of this parish.It was the birthplace of
