Albert Howell is a Canadian improv
comedian andpoet .History
Howell began his comedy career at the
Loose Moose Theatre inCalgary where he trained with the legendaryKeith Johnstone . He started performing in local comedy clubs with his friendsRoman Danylo ,Peter Oldring and Graeme Davies.In 1993 Howell joined the cast of
The Second City and performed there until 1997 when he and Andrew Currie formed The Devil's Advocates. They were offered the job of hosting Improv Heaven & Hell onThe Comedy Network , which starred such improv greats as Teresa Pavlinek, Jack Mosshammer, Bob Martin andColin Mochrie .The Devils were nominated in 2000 for Best Television Performance at the
Canadian Comedy Awards and Howell was also nominated for Best Male Improviser that year. He appeared at theJust For Laughs Festival and the Chicago Improvisation Festival 3 years in a row. Currently, he is writing and acting for a fourth season of Comedy Inc.Poetry and politics
In 2003, Howell decided to experiment with writing poetry. Although he never truly published his own books, many of his poems were published in poetry anthologies. To date, Howell has only written about 10 poems, seven of which were published in various anthologies.
Howell was also a minor candidate for
Mayor of Toronto in the 2003 municipal election.External links
