Warwick Keay

Warwick Keay was born in 1957 in Palmerston North, New Zealand. His early musical studies included playing the cornet and the violin, a background shared by his elder brother Nigel Keay. His father Allan Keay was an accomplished amateur pianist and choral conductor While living in Hamilton in the seventies Warwick Keay embarked on a musical career as bass player, and played for the following New Zealand bands: Euphoria, Gasworks Band, The Knobz, Flight 77 Flight X-7, The Mad Ranks and Auckland Walk. He was also a songwriter. Auckland Walk which included Michel Morris, Eddie Olsen, Carey Peterson and Damien Saunders produced an album called "rhythmic tendencies" on Warner Brothers WEA in 1983. Warwick Keay moved to Sydney in the mid-eighties. Both Flight X-7 and The Mad Ranks line-ups included Tim Powles, later of Sydney's The Church.
