- Tupolev Tu-80
__NOTOC__The
Tupolev Tu-80 was a modernized version of theTupolev Tu-4 bomber with improvements on aerodynamics such as increased wing area, aircraft systems, weapon and equipment. It had a revised forward fuselage (similar to that later used in the Tu-16 and Tu-95 bombers) with a separate cockpit for the two pilots, and a new wing. The work done allowed an increase in the designed flight range in comparison with that of Tu-4 by 20-25%. The whole air frame had been aerodynamically refined and about 15% more fuel could be carried. Maximum speed with the same ASh-73TK engines was now 640 km/h. Its first flight was on1 December 1949 . However it was superseded by the larger and more advancedTupolev Tu-85 derivative, and was not produced any further.pecifications
