Colin MacIntyre is a Scottish singer, song-writer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. MacIntyre, with the group Mull Historical Society, has released and toured worldwide three albums: Loss (2001), Us (2003) and This Is Hope (2004), and has achieved four UK Top 40 Chart hits and two UK Top 20 Chart albums. MacIntyre was named Scotland’s Top Creative Talent at the Glenfiddich Spirit Of Scotland Awards.

The first release under his own name was the album, The Water, released on 4 February 2008 and reaching no. 36 in the indie chart. This album was produced by Nick Franglen from Lemon Jelly, marking the first time MacIntyre had worked with a producer (he produced all MHS material himself. Artwork on the album was by designer/illustrator Jo Burton.

MacIntyre's fifth album Island (the second under his own name) was released in the UK on 6 July 2009. First single "Cape Wrath" preceded it by a few weeks.

In 2011, MacIntyre announced a return to his Mull Historical Society moniker for the release of sixth album "City Awakenings"

MacIntyre's brother is BBC Scotland Sport's Kenny MacIntyre and his late father, also called Kenny, was BBC Scotland Political Correspondent. His grandfather was poet Angus MacIntyre.

Early life and education

Colin attended Tobermory High School until the age of 16. It was there that he would form his first rock band, Trax (a cover band performing music by Dire Straits). Members included Gordon Buchanan and Alan Malloy. Later, MacIntyre would go on to record and perform both as Mull Historical Society under his own name.
