Sucidava

Sucidava, (Sykibid after Procopiu [Olga Karagiorgou egg.mnir.ro/pdf/Karagiorgou_Container.PDF] , Σucidava after Parvan , where Σ is prononce sh, [Parvan -stiri din Dacia MAlvensis http://www.cimec.ro/Arheologie/ParvanArticole/ParvanStiriNouaDinDaciaMalvensis.pdf)] , is a Dacian and Daco-Roman historical site, situated in Corabia on the north bank of the Danube. There can be found: the first Christian Basilica in Romania, the foot of a Roman bridge over the Danube built by Constantine the Great to link Sucidava with Oescus (today in Bulgaria, in Moesia), a secret underground fountain which flows under the walls of the town to capture a water spring situated outside, a museum were are exposed ancient relics and more.

From archeological point of view the coins found at Sucidava show an uninterrupted series fromAurelian (270-275) to Theodosios II (408-450). The archelogic evidence show that in AD 443 or 447 the city suffer from huns attacs, still the city is restored under Iustin I 518-527 or Justinian 527-565.
