- Waterview (band)
Waterview is a four-piece rock/hardcore band from
Port Stephens , near Newcastle, on the East Coast of Australia.The band formed in 2003, and played several local and interstate shows before releasing an independent EP in late 2006. It's track "Daybreak" received a great response, Stu Harvey of Australian radio station Triple J loved the track so much he played it several times on his radio show, Short.Fast.Loud, as well as reviewing the track on the bands Unearthed Web Page. After that, the song began to see more frequent airplay on the station and soon they were announced as winners of Triple J’s coveted Unearthed competition. Waterview were announced on the radio station’s morning show with Myf, Jay and the Doctor and the band played a spot on the Come Together Music Festival at Luna Park Sydney on the Queens Birthday Long Weekend with Huge acts such as Against Me!, Darkest Hour, Every Time I Die and more.
The band has also supported Australian heavy-weights such as Karnivool, The Hot Lies, I Killed The Prom Queen, The Amity Affliction, Behind Crimson Eyes, In Fiction, The Daylight Curse and recently scored the Sydney support slot for US act A Wilhelm Scream.
The band reached the Number One spot on the Punk Chart of Triple J's Unearthed. Also having their tracks added to several U.S compilations, one of which run by well-established punk/indie magazine Skratch, not to mention being featured on many extreme sports videos, quite a few are featured on the sporting site www.skufftv.com. The track, "Tallean Road Riot" has reached the top 10 on the American Mixed Martial Arts charts on Indiesolo.com and was also used for a Sprite featurette “Thirst for Truth”.
After a short tour in early 2007, Waterview recorded a new demo in early 2008, it’s track Hammerstone achieved airplay once again on Triple J’s Short.Fast.Loud. With a large following and fan-base in their home-town of Newcastle and surrounding areas the band are now set to release a follow up to their successful debut EP on QLD label Skull + Bones, edging closer to their goal of creeping into the mainstream music scene of Australia's punk and hardcore acts.
