29 March 1973 ) is a retiredhigh jump er fromEngland . He was born inLiverpool . At the 1992 World Junior Championships he equalled the junior world record of 2.37 metres, whichDragutin Topic had achieved in 1990. Smith equalled this result a few times but never broke his personal best, which is also the British record.A four-time national champion for Great Britain (AAA Championships) in the men's high jump event, Smith retired after rupturing his
