Shem Tob Gaguine (b. Jerusalem 5 September 1884, d. Manchester 30 July 1953) was a British Sephardic Rabbi. Scion of a famous Moroccan
Rabbi nical dynasty.He had an early posting as rabbi of the Sephardic community in
Manchester . He later became the Chief Rabbi or "Haham" (Ecclesiastical Head) of theSpanish and Portuguese Jews ' Congregations of England and also the Principal or "Rosh Yeshibah" of the Judith Montefiore Theological College at Ramsgate.His main contribution to Jewish scholarship was his Keter Shem Tob written in 1934. The work examines and compares the rites, ceremonies and liturgy of the eastern and western Sephardim and Ashkenazim. It pays particular attention to the customs of Spanish and Portuguese Jews.
