Joseph Belmont is a politician in
Seychelles and has been vice-president since16 April 2004 . He took office after presidentFrance-Albert René stepped down and the previous vice-president,James Michel , replaced René as president. Belmont is one of the leading members of theSeychelles People's Progressive Front . He became minister of manpower and social services in 1982 and subsequently held a variety of ministerial positions.
