Dynasty=Concurrent with the21st Dynasty Pinedjem II was a High Priest of Amun at Thebes in
Ancient Egypt from990 BC to969 BC and was the "de facto" ruler of the south of the country. He was married to his sister Istemkheb, both children ofMenkheperre , the High Priest of Amun at Thebes and also to his niece Nesikhons, the daughter of his brotherSmendes II .When Pinedjem II died, his mummy, along with those of his wives and at least one daughter were laid to rest in the cache at
Deir el-Bahri , above the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut. It was during his reign that the mummies of other previous Theban-based rulers, including the much earlier 18th- and 19th-dynasty pharaohsAhmose I ,Amenhotep I ,Thutmose I ,Thutmose II ,Thutmose III ,Ramesses I ,Seti I ,Ramesses II , andRamesses IX , as well asPsusennes II 's near contemporaryPinedjem I , were gathered together and also laid in this tomb, which was revealed in1881 .External links
