- Khumbu
Khumbu is one of three subregions of the main Sherpa settlement of the
Himalaya , the other two beingSolu andPharak . Khumbu is located in northeasternNepal and includes the town ofNamche Bazaar as well as the villages ofThami ,Khumjung ,Pangboche ,Pheriche and Kunde. The famous Buddhistmonastery atTengboche is also located in the Khumbu.Due to its location in the Himalaya, the Khumbu's elevation ranges from 3,300 metres (11,000') all the way to the highest point on Earth,
Mount Everest at 8,850m (29,035').Sagarmatha National Park is also enclosed within the Khumbu region.Tenzing Norgay , one of the first two men to reach the summit ofMount Everest was born in theTibet ian village of Moyez and raised inNepal . [cite web
