- Spider-Man 2 novelization
pider-Man 2, The Book
In the Spider-Man 2 book, it shows everything and copies from the
Spider-Man 2 movie. However, there are some differences. The Beginning
In the beginning of the movie, it shows that Peter Parker is at Tony Aziz's pizza restaurant, showing how his life is now since after the events of the first movie. But in the novelization, the book starts out with first introducing Dr. Otto Octavius and Dr. Curt Connors, also introducing their friendship. They are then attacked by a gigantic robot in which Spider-Man stops, revealing inside an
Australian , bald man that was controlling the machine. They eventually talk upon a roof and the man reveals his name is Jack Al. His intention with using the robot to terroize the city was that he was using it to kill Dr. Otto Octavius, as he is aware that he is creating a machine which will kill New York, and he also created four, robot arms. Spider-Man asks what he's talking about but Al uses his lighter to smoke to try to kill Spider-Man, but is caught by the fire himself, falling off the roof and to his death. People yell to Spider-Man his failure of Spider-Man and he just swings off.The story then shifts to Mary Jane Watson and John Jameson, who met to be engaged, and has Mary Jane meet J. Jonah Jameson. They noticed that Mary Jane once dated Harry Osborn in the past and how MJ and John met is revealed - back in the past (probably somewhere in the first movie), MJ and John met in the restaurant MJ worked in (as revealed to Peter Parker in one scene of the first movie).
Later on, Spider-Man helped a man from falling off a construction site and an I-beam from hurting people, in which lter shifts to Peter at Tony Aziz's job (like at the beginning of the second movie and Peter says there was a disturbance as he secretly shoves his Spider-Man mask in his pocket, in which this novelization reveals what Spider-Man was disturbed by).
Dinner Scene
At the dinner scene of the second movie when Peter and Dr. Octavius meet and Octavius' wife, Rosie, prepares for them. But before that but after the scene in which Harry Osborn introduces Peter and Octavius to each other, it is revealed how Peter met Rosie.
Theater Scene
At the scene where Peter and the snooty threater usher meet, as in the movie where it ends with the usher showing Peter the sign to the threater no noise while play is in progress, Peter tells the usher about his shoe. The usher believes that Peter is lying that they were untied, as the usher told Peter about his shoe untied, Peter reveals that was a big huge gunk on his shoe. Peter tries to get to the theater but the play immediately ends with the usher happy over his victory.
Chinese Lady Singing Second Spider-Man Song
When the Chinese lady in the movie was singing the second Spider-Man song, asking where Spider-Man was, Harry was drinking scotch above her, accidentally spilling some on her.
When Doc Ock Brings Spider-Man Over to Harry
In the scene where Doc Ock brought Spider-Man over to Harry, having the hero tied up in chains, Ock asks where Harry wanted Spider-Man and Harry tells him he can lay him on the couch. But in the novelization, when Ock enters, he just settles Spider-Man on the couch without Harry's orders. Harry complains it would ruin the sofa and Ock reveals he got the chains from the train yard. And after Ock left with his tritium to finish his machine on destroying New York, Harry takes out a knife to kill Spider-Man. But in the novelization, Harry pulled out a gun, but realized that a bullet can be traced, so he switched to a knife. After he unmasked the hero, shocked that it was Peter and Peter asks where Ock is, the scene ends. But in the novelization, Harry tells Peter Ock is hiding in an abandoned pier and Peter leaves, masked as Spider-Man. As Spider-Man is swinging off, Harry cries out on his balcony, "Peter!"
The End
After the scene when MJ is reunited to John after Ock died when he drowned, saving New York from his machine when Spider-Man reformed him, the movie is quickly shifted to Harry being disappointed about something. But in this book, Harry is watching the news and MJ reveals that she watched Spider-Man foil Ock's plans (then J. Jonah Jameson tells the cameras that all of this will be on the "Daily Bugle" papers the following morning). Harry turns off the TV, revealing why Harry was disappointed - Ock failed to kill Spider-Man. Next, when Harry sees all of his later father's Green Goblin equipment, it has the scene end, whereas in the novelization, it ends with Harry laughing like the Green Goblin. At Mary Jane's wedding day to John, Harry is just smiling in a suit about Mary Jane's wedding, whereas in the novelization, Mary Jane notices that Harry was laughing with Flash Thompson (in which MJ realizes in her thoughts Harry doesn't normally do that), in which in the movie, Flash never appeared and Harry wasn't laughing either. And finally, before Mary Jane went to Peter as she did in the movie, the novelization didn't prtray that right away, having Peter talk to his dead Uncle Ben in mind. Ben says that they will never see each other again, whereas Mary Jane will accompany Peter for the rest of his life. However, in the third movie, it is possible Ben will return as a ghost to Peter, despite Ben said they will never see each other again.
