Francis Lawrence "Frank" Lukeman (born
June 20 ,1886 inMontreal ,Québec — 1946), was a Canadian athlete. He competed at the1908 Summer Olympics inLondon and in the1912 Summer Olympics inStockholm .In Stockholm, Lukeman finished fourth in the
Pentathlon but was awarded theBronze medal in the Pentathlon afterJim Thorpe of the U.S. was disqualified from theGold medal (Thorpe's disqualification was eventually overturned butFerdinand Bie ofNorway was allowed to retain his Gold as wereJames Donahue (USA) and Lukeman permitted to retain their Silver and Bronze medals respectively).In the 100 metres, Lukeman took second place in his first-round heat with a time of 11.7 seconds. He did not advance to the semifinals.
He won in his preliminary heat of the 200 metres, placing first overall.
Lukeman served in the
Canadian Army inWorld War I . He returned to Montreal after the war.He died in 1946.
