Compress Da Audio

Compress 'Da Audio (or CDA) was the first MP3 warez release group, founded on 13 August 1996 by a man nicknamed NetFraCk on IRC (EFnet)."13.8.1996: The first ever MP3 group, Compress Da Audio is founded by Netfrack. (...) The first song ever released onto the scene was "Until It Sleeps" by Metallica." In the same month, "NetFrack" gave an interview on CDA's behalf to "MrMister" for "Affinity" magazine. According to the magazine, the first song ever released by the group in the MP3 format was Metallica's "Until It Sleeps." It was "ripped" by "NetFrack" on 10 August 1996."Affinity" magazine, [http://www.defacto2.net/magazines.cfm?mode=detail&title=Affinity issue #3] (23 August 1996): "Spot light—Releases—Compress 'Da Audio presents—A list of "all" the CDs that were released." The MP3 groups that followed in CDA's footsteps were founded in the following order: Digital Audio Crew (DAC), Rabid Neurosis (RNS), Apocalypse Production Crew (aPC).

After "NetFrack" stepped down, presidency of CDA was passed onto "MrMister".
