Ralph Mims

Ralph Mims (born November 26th, 1985 in Pensacola, Florida) is a college basketball player for the Florida State Seminoles. He is 6'2" and weighs 200 pounds.

High School

Mims scored 1,916 career points at Brunswick High School. A four-year starter, Mims dominated his competition at the Class A level (Maine's largest schools). As a senior, Mims averaged 28.9 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game. In the 2002 State Championship, sophomore Mims went head to head with future Maryland star Nik Caner-Medley. Mims scored 31 points, and Brunswick won the game. Brunswick finished runner-up in the state games in Mims' junior and senior years. Mims' senior year, he carried the team to the state championship against powerhouse Portland High School. Hearing chants of "Mimswick" from the Portland fans, Ralph made the Portland players look foolish on several occasions by receiving the ball in a full court press, and dribbling through all five defenders for a score. He scored 46 points in the game, but lost. Mims finished his high school career with three First Team All-State selections, and the state's Mr. Basketball award. He was offered scholarships from several schools, including Maine and Providence, but chose to return home to Florida and attend Florida State University.

College

In his college debut against Texas Southern, Mims scored a career high 17 points. As a freshman, Mims played sparingly but averaged 2.8 points per game. As a sophomore, he averaged 3.8 points per game. He also broke a school record for consecutive free throws made, 33, breaking Jim Oler's 1953-54 record of 31.

Trivia

* In his high school days, opponent's fans would often wear t-shirts reading "Ralph WHO?", "Mimswick" (suggesting that Brunswick was a one-man team), and other playful shots at Mims.

* Mims also played at quarterback for the Brunswick High team and was an all-conference honoree at free safety. He was part of state championship runner-up squad that lost to Deering High School. Fact|date=July 2007
