Lisa Scottoline

Lisa Scottoline (born July 1, 1955) is a popular American author of legal thrillers. Her novels have been translated into 25 languages.

Scottoline was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, earning a degree in English. In 1981, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School cum laude. She became a litigator at a prestigious law firm in Philadelphia but stayed home after the birth of her daughter. She took up writing as a way to make money at home. Since then, she has written 13 bestselling novels, including "Final Appeal", which received the 1995 Edgar Award for Best Paperback Original Mystery, and "Moment of Truth", which reached number five on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Recently, Scottoline began writing a column entitled "Chick Wit" for "The Philadelphia Inquirer".
