Dubtronica Stylistic origins Electronica, Dub, reggae fusion Cultural origins 1980s in England Dubtronica is a neologism that has been used to describe electronic dance music that evidences the influence of dub.[1] The origin is thought to be either the experimental English dub of On-U Sound Records and Mad Professor in the 1980s,[1] Note that the term is not universally accepted by both artists and listeners, with many opting simply to call the music "dub" or "techdub".[citation needed]
Dubtronica consists of electronic beats played in a downbeat manner. It is much lower in speed than techno and generally warmer than dance-oriented electronica. Some tracks use reggae toasters or singers to produce a more accessible form of the music.[citation needed]
