Jack Hoban is a former active duty
US Marine Corps Captain and "subject matter expert" for theMarine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP ). He is a long-time practitioner ofmartial art s and "Shidoshi" (senior instructor) in theBujinkan system under headmasterMasaaki Hatsumi inJapan . He became fully qualified as a senior Bujinkan instructor by passing the 5th degree black belt test in1985 . He received a 10th dan in May of1996 .He is also a student of the late
Robert L. Humphrey , notedconflict resolution specialist and author of "Values For A New Millennium". Hoban'sLiving Values Program is inspired in great degree from Professor Humphrey's Life Value theory.Hoban's approach to teaching martial arts in context of the universal human
values is unique in theUnited States . He has published three books and four videos on the martial arts and has written numerous articles on the martial arts and Living Values. He is also a popular lecturer throughout America and the world on the subject of warriorship and values. Lessons address how "warrior-citizens" can stand up for and, if necessary, protect themselves and others.Hoban is also a
musician . He is known for his unique sound, bothvocal ly and on theguitar . He writes a wide range of music from stirringballad s to thefunk y,blues y music of his band, Rogues on the Run. Formed in1992 , the Rogues specialize in traditional blues and original contemporaryblues /jazz music. They are currently playing theJersey Shore , and have opened forBB King .Previously, Hoban was co-founder, with Gene McCormick, of Jersey Blue (with Bernard Purdie on drums). Before that he was a member of the
Philadelphia -based Windfall, who opened for KISS.Hoban has an
MBA , and is currently Vice President of a technology company that specializes in thehealth care industry.
