- Adirondack Railway
The Adirondack Railway was a
railroad that connected Saratoga Springs toNorth Creek, New York . Built by Dr.Thomas Clark Durant , vice-president of theUnion Pacific Railroad , it was started in 1864, completed in 1871. After Durant's death, it was taken over by his son,William West Durant who sold it to theDelaware and Hudson Canal Company in 1889. A stage coach line was established to take passengers 28 miles to Durant propterties atBlue Mountain Lake and further by water toRaquette Lake .The line is currently operated as a tourist route called the
Upper Hudson River Railroad .ources
