Rhön Mountains . Its height is about 928 metres. It is located in the Bavarian part of the Rhön, in theadministrative region Lower Franconia . The Kreuzberg — also called the "holy mountain of theFranconians " — is part of the town ofBischofsheim an der Rhön in the districtRhön-Grabfeld .Tourism
Every year the Kreuzberg draws a lot of tourists. People visit the Kreuzberg especially for hiking and in the winter for skiing. For this purpose there are three lifts on the northern side of the mountain. In addition, there is also a luge track on the Kreuzberg.
The
monastery which is situated on the peak of the Kreuzberg ("Kloster Kreuzberg") is one of the main attractions, as well. Pilgrimages are often practiced to the monastery church. Besides, the monastery is also famous for its beer. The monks brewed beer there until about 1985. The monks still serve beer, but now it is brewed in a brewery in Bischofsheim.Broadcasting
There is a facility for
FM Radio and TVbroadcasting (Transmitter Kreuzberg) situated at 928m altitude on the Kreuzberg. It was established in1951 and used until1985 , being a 156 metre highguyed mast transmission tower. Since 1985, a 208 metre high guyed mast is used.External links
