The Animal Transportation Association [AATA] is an organization with a worldwide membership serving as a resource for those concerned with the humane handling and transportation of animals.
History
The AATA began in 1976 to address the concerns of industry leaders, government officials, and humane association representatives. The name was changed to "The Animal Transportation Association" in 1989 to emphasize that sea, air and land transport are of equal importance in the safe and humane transport of animals. Members include airlines, truckers, shipping firms, government agencies, universities, research organizations, breeders, importers, exporters, veterinarians, and many others that transport exotic and domestic animals.
