Edington, Wiltshire

Edington is a small village in Wiltshire, England, about five miles east of Westbury.

History & Amenities

It is home to Edington Priory and the annual Edington Music Festival.

The village commands a vital place in English history, for it was here that Alfred The Great won a decisive battle against the Danes in the Battle of Edington, and laid the foundations of modern England.

Edington is very close to the Westbury White Horse, a famous chalk horse on the side of a hill, visible from nearby Westbury. Edington is nearby the county town of Trowbridge where the best local shopping is found.

Edington has a village park, a local pub (The Lamb Inn) and has its own parish church, Edington Priory. Residents send their children to school in the neighbouring village Bratton to Bratton Primary School. Secondary School options include Lavington and Matravers (Westbury).
