Timothy Joseph Kempton (born
January 25 ,1964 inJamaica, New York ), is an American former professionalbasketball player who was selected by theLos Angeles Clippers in the 6th round (124th overall) of the1986 NBA Draft . A 6'10" forward-center from theUniversity of Notre Dame , Kempton played in 8NBA seasons for 8 different teams. He played for the Clippers (1986-87),Charlotte Hornets (1988-89, 1993-94),Denver Nuggets (1989-90),Phoenix Suns (1992-93),Cleveland Cavaliers (1993-94),Atlanta Hawks (1995-96),San Antonio Spurs (1996-97),Orlando Magic (1997-98) andToronto Raptors (1997-98). He was also under contract withPhiladelphia 76ers (1996), but has not played in any NBA games for them.In his NBA career, Kempton played in 280 games and scored a total of 1,259 points. His best year as a professional came during the
1988-89 NBA season as a member of the Hornets, appearing in 79 games and averaging 6.1 ppg.This 2008-09 NBA season, Kempton will be entering his sixth year as a radio analyst for the Phoenix Suns, calling every game for Sports 620 KTAR alongside Hall of Fame broadcaster Al McCoy. He will also begin his second season as co-host for Suns.com TV's Nothin' But Net with Jamie Morris.
