town inPoland . Since 1999 it has been inStrzelce Opolskie County inOpole Voivodship .History
The town, which was first documented in 1217, was destroyed in
1429 during theHussite Wars . As "Leschnitz", it was annexed by theKingdom of Prussia in 1742 during theFirst Silesian War . The town was included in Landkreis Groß Strehlitz within the PrussianProvince of Silesia in1816 . Leschnitz became part of theGerman Empire in1871 during theunification of Germany . In1936 while part of theProvince of Upper Silesia , it was renamed "Bergstadt" (mountain town). In1945 it was placed under Polish administration according to thePotsdam Agreement and renamed "Leśnica".People
