Chop-Socky

Chop-Socky were an Australian based comedy ensemble who developed a cult following in the late 1990’s before disbanding in 1999. Originally forming out of Latrobe University, they were first discovered by comedy producer John Pinder. The group produced comedy for Foxtel’s "the Comedy Channel", ABC’s "Recovery" programme, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and 3RRR FM, as well as becoming Patrons of the Melbourne Theatre Company.

Over the years the group was made up of various contributors before settling on its final cast line-up which included brother and sister team Darren Chau and Danielle Chau, actor Michael Saunders, and writer/performers Tibor Kosa and Trent Price.

Foxtel

Working with TV production company Artist Services (Now Granada Productions - Australia) the group produced "Chop-Socky's : The Prison of Art", which broadcast on Foxtel in 1999. The programme was commissioned by Nick Murray and was a narrative comedy shot in the style of a documentary. The story followed the making of a b-grade Hollywood movie being shot in a mental institution. In addition to members of Chop-Socky, the cast also featured veteran Aussie comedy actor Geoff Brooks of "Fast Forward" and "Australia You're Standing In It".
