Hughie McAuley (b.
January 8 1953 ,Bootle ,Liverpool ) was theLiverpool F.C. Reserves team coach for the 2005/06 season, working closely withPaco Herrera . He was previously coach of the Under-19 team working at theLiverpool F.C. Academy . He spent a number of years working full-time with the youth development team at Liverpool. He worked for the club from 1990.As a player McAuley signed for Liverpool in 1970, but made no first team appearances. He also played for Tranmere Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton, Carlisle United and Formby.
He played a major role in the club's
FA Youth Cup win in 1996 when the youth team beat the likes of Manchester United and then West Ham United in the final atAnfield . He helped developMichael Owen ,Steven Gerrard andJamie Carragher during his spell at the Academy.His son, Hugh, has played for Leek Town, Conwy United, Northwich, Cheltenham Town, Aldershot,
Kidderminster Harriers , Forest Green Rovers, Tamworth, Kettering and more recently withLeigh RMI External links
