The Oddfest

The Oddfest

The Oddfest is an American celebration of comedy, music and artists that brings together some of today's funniest musical comedy acts.

In 2003, performing at what was then hopefully the first of many concerts to bear the name Oddfest were some of the most popular acts on nationally syndicated Dr. Demento Show. Appearing were: Sudden Death - the #1 most requested act of 2002 on Dr. Demento Show; Worm Quartet - the #2 most requested act of 2002 and Eric Schwartz- the #2 most reuquested act of 2001. It was hosted by Tom Perri who had a #1 song on the Funny Five. The show took place on August 3 at Bodle's Opera House in Chester, New York, roughly an hour north of Manhattan.

Oddfest 2006 will be hosted by Grammy nominated singer and comedian Red Peters, host of the weekly Red Peters Comedy Music Hour on Howard Stern's Howard 101. He will be introducing popular comedy acts Sudden Death, Worm Quartet, and Joshua Grosvent. The event is scheduled for Thursday night, August 10, 2006, at Mo Pitkins in lower Manhattan.

FIDIM Interactive, LLC

This record label, that specializes in comedy and novelty music, organises the Oddfest. FIDIM stands for "Fine, I'll Do It Myself" and was created By Tom Rockwell of Sudden Death after he wanted someone to program his video game, and nobody would. So he said "Fine,I'll Do It Myself." He thought it would sound cool for a record label, so he kept the name. The name also characterizes the spirit of The Oddfest.

Red Peters

Host of the 2006 show. He is well known as the Friday night host of the Sirius Satellite radio comedy show bearing his name. His 2004 hit "I Can’t Say These Things" was nominated for Song Of The Year in the 47th Annual Grammy Awards. He also had a major holiday hit with the carnal carole "Holy S***, It's Christmas!". Red's songs may be heard on the radio, in films and during his public appearances.

Sudden Death

Sudden Death is a comedy rap group. Their hit Inner Voice from their critically acclaimed album Die Laughing topped the comedy charts in 2005, winning the title that year of Most Requested Song on the nationally-syndicated radio program Dr. Demento Show. Sudden Death has released six albums, including 2002's wildly popular Fatal Accident Zone. Sudden Death's road show is a multimedia hip-hop experience, synchronizing video and animations into the musically comedic performances.

Worm Quartet

Worm Quartet (2006 Oddfest)creates some incredibly strange and wonderfully twisted songs. This creative and funny one-man "comedy electro-punkish band" hails from Rochester, N.Y. ShoEboX, front-man to this musical experience, penned the touching ex-girlfriend ballad Great Idea For A Song, which was the most requested song of 2004 on Dr. Demento. I Bit William Shatner, Frank's Not In The Band Anymore and others became popular comedy hits and many Worm Quartet songs are featured on Dr. Demento's compilation albums.

Joshua Grosvent

Producer of the popular comedy show Comedy is for Humans, this self-proclaimed “Comedic Songsmith” and his songs have become a staple in the New York City humor scene. Whether he's singing about making love in Senior Citizen Lovin' or about a popular guilty private pleasure in MySpace, his shows are not worth missing. Infusing music with stand-up, improv, technology and audio effects, Joshua's road shows slay rock venues and colleges all over the country with a full-on multimedia experience. Grosvent is currently shooting his very first mini-pilot as well as his first music videos. The Oddfest will be his last appearance in New York City for several months while he tours, so get out and enjoy it!
