Carlos joined
Suburban Rhythm in 1992 and was part of the band until their breakup. Later, he would leaveAction League to replaceAndrew Gonzales ofReel Big Fish . Over the next few years, de la Garza would tour extensively withReel Big Fish and would play drums on the album "Cheer Up! ".His last live performance with
Reel Big Fish was taped and released on the "The Show Must Go Off! "DVD . The last song he played withReel Big Fish was a cover of theA-ha hit "Take On Me," which lead singerAaron Barrett introduced by saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, for the last time on the drums, Mr. Carlos de la Garza!". Carlos' reasons for leaving were to spend more time with his family and to concentrate on his recording career. The split with Reel Big Fish was amicable.Producer/Engineer
After leaving
Reel Big Fish , Carlos worked at Capitol Recording Studios in Los Angeles where he participated on the critically acclaimed and Grammy winning soundtrack to "Good Night and Good Luck ", as well asRy Cooder 'sGrammy winning album "Chavez Ravine ". He currently owns and operatesMusic Friends recording studio in Los Angeles, and works as a recording engineer and producer.
