After 5 years in exile after escaping an abusive relationship with late former husband and manager Jack Gordon [http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/LaToya_Jackson] , La Toya Jackson returned to the studio to record an autobiographical album entitled "Startin' Over". The lead single, she decided, would be "Just Wanna Dance". It was recorded in 2002, along with a full version of her "Startin' Over" album. However, it wasn't until 2004 that "Just Wanna Dance" was released.

The single was originally released not under the name La Toya Jackson, but under her nickname Toy, so DJ's would give the record a fair chance before tossing it aside. The "Startin' Over" album was expected to be ready in 2007, but no final date was confirmed and the album has yet to be released.
