Star-Khan

Star-Khan is a character from the Freedom City campaign setting of the superhero-themed role-playing game, "Mutants and Masterminds". Although not a resident of Freedom City itself, Star-Khan is one of many potential antagonists for superhero characters due to his worlds-conquering ambitions.

Long before recorded history, the ancient alien race known as the "Preservers" seeded human beings on many planets of the galaxy, some genetically modified to suit their new worlds, or simply for experimental purposes. A number of these peoples developed advanced technology, and banded together into the relatively peaceful "Lor Republic". However, many of these worlds remained primitive, and the Lor Republic left these "barbaric" planets alone, to develop on their own.

Not every species believed in non-interference, however, and a number of barbarian worlds came to possess starship technology. While these worlds have remained divided against each other for millennia, in time, an ambitious, brilliant and charismatic warlord called Kinan Khan arose, and united many of the primitive worlds under his rule. He is a brilliant tactician and strategist, and because of his upbringing on a savage world, he is also skilled in more personal methods of combat. The Star-Khan might have destroyed the Lor Republic and gone on to Earth, had not the Star Knights and the immortal genius Daedalus (formerly of Earth's Freedom League), along with rebels from among his own conquered subjects, not banded together to stop him.

After being dealt such a humiliating defeat, Star-Khan lost some of his followers. But he is now playing the waiting game, slowly building up his power and retaking the less-defended worlds within his reach. He is ruthless, a military genius, and lives for battle. Although primarily useful in a space-based campaign, the character might also become interested in the Earth, perhaps as a recruiting ground for superhuman soldiers or allies.

The Star-Khan is a member of a human-offshoot species with superhuman strength and durability. He commands the resources of a multi-world interstellar empire. Star-Khan is a peerless military general, with a lifetime of experience in combat and conquest.
