- Wireless POS
Wireless point of sale (wireless POS or WPOS) is the use of
wireless devices to facilitate order-taking orpayment forproduct s or services. As a rule, a wirelesspoint of sale system consists of abase station directly connected to a central servercomputer and one or morehandheld computer s or other devices (PDA s) that communicate wirelessly.WPOS can streamline many processes and may include the ability to record and track customer orders, finalize sales, connect to other systems in a network, and manage
inventory .By enabling a
vendor to make atransaction or adjust it anywhere within range of thewireless network , WPOS can ensure seamless delivery of the desired product or service. Wireless POS is particularly useful inrestaurant s and other food service establishments. It allows servers to send customer orders to thekitchen from any place within the establishment (at a table, in a stadium seat, by the pool, etc). Wireless POS can also be used to makecredit card transactions more secure because customers never lose sight of the credit card and, therefore, do not risk anyone copying thedata from their credit card while it is out of their sight.External links
