Ragnar Klavan (born October 30, 1985 in Viljandi) is an Estonian professional footballer, who plays in the Dutch Eredivisie, for Heracles Almelo. He plays the position of defender or midfielder and is 1.86 m tall. He is also a member of the Estonia national football team.

Club career

Early career

Klavan made his first-team debut for FC Elva at the age of 15 in 2001. A year later he joined to JK Viljandi Tulevik. After two seasons he moved to FC Flora Tallinn, Estonia's biggest club, in 2003.

Vålerenga IF

On August 31, 2004, Klavan signed for Vålerenga IF on a three-month loan from Flora Tallinn. Heracles Almelo

On August 4, 2005, he signed a 3-year contract with Dutch Eredivisie club Heracles Almelo. For Estonia, Klavan is capped 49 times, scoring 1 goal. He made his national team debut on July 3, 2003 against Lithuania in a 1995 Baltic Cup.
