G. A. Menon was born in
North Paravur in Kerala, India. Mr Menon majored in Mathematics fromMadras University and went toHarvard Business School . He began his career as a Systems Manager withIBM in India. When IBM closed down in India in 1978, he moved toSingapore . Later, he set upMulti Tech systems , which merged withVenture Manufacturing Singapore Ltd in 1989. Venture Manufacturing is one of the largest electronics manufacturing companies in the world.After becoming a successful entrepreneur, he first came to Kerala with a proposal to set up a Rs 6,000-crore
petrochemical complex at Kasaragod, which did not take off. Subsequently, he set up the two Technopark companies.On 2nd December 2003, Mr G.A. Menon died following cardiac failure aboard a scheduled airliner that was manoeuvring to land in Los Angeles.
He was also the founder chairman of US-based
Magnecomp International . The company was a manufacturer of thesuspension assembly , an extremely high precision component used in the read/write heads ofhard disk drive s used in computers. Magnecomp went public in Singapore in 1998. It has today the world’s second largest manufacturer of suspension assemblies with operations in the USA, Hong Kong, China, Thailand and Singapore.He founded
Toonz Animation USA , in Los Angeles. Toonz Animation established a state-of-the-art animation studio,Toonz Animation India Pvt. Ltd. , in TechnoparkTrivandrum , India. Toonz Animation is today the largest in Southeast Asia.
