Emil Corsillo

Emil Corsillo (born August 6, 1979) is an American contemporary artist based in Brooklyn, New York. His work consists of mostly paintings, drawings, and short videos and uses quasi-abstract, graphic urban imagery to convey dystopia or an apocalyptic future. He has been featured in Art Forum, Art New England, the Boston Globe, Big Red and Shiny, Some Other Magazine, the Boston Herald, the Boston Phoenix, and Arts Media.

Emil Corsillo Inc, Emil Corsillo was the originator of the mannequin wig in the 1940's. Emil was an Italian immigrant the married Elsie Koch and together they formed the famous Hollywood company that for close to 50 years supplied the entertainment industry in Hollywood and the world with toupees, headpieces, wigs, and manufactured mannequin wigs. Most of the Hollywood actors that would require a toupee were clients of the company. Among its notables were Harpo Marx, Brian don Levee, Hal Fishman, and many more. Emil died in 1967, but the company continued on into the 80's when it was closed. The decline was contributed to new technologies, imports, and the general decline of the large scale Hollywood productions that used the product.

A film clip of the wig factory can bee seen in a film documentary entitled "Another State of Mind"
